چکیده
This article covers research on an innovative propulsion system design for a Biomimetic Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (BUUV) operating at low speeds. The experiment was conducted laboratory test water tunnel equipped with specialised sensor equipment to assess the Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) and energy consumption of two different types systems. experimental data contrast undulating drag-based system. additional joint in is intended increase thrust decrease input. tests were variety fins oscillation frequencies fluid velocities. experiments demonstrate that, region low-speed forward movement, efficiency greater.

Control of High-Speed Underwater Vehicles
I (GB) was fortunate that early in my career I had the opportunity to work with Keith Glover. Keith had just begun his obsession with golf. A simple game where a ball stands still and the player advances it from different parts of the landscape into a hole. During a golf outing, Keith vigorously struck a ball off the fairway. It drove through a water hazard and miraculously ended up a few feet ...
متن کاملMinimum Speed Seeking Control for Nonhovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicles
Most autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are propelled by a single thruster, use elevators and rudders as control surfaces, and are torpedo-shaped. Furthermore, they are positively buoyant to facilitate recovery during an emergency. For this class of nonhovering AUVs, there is a minimum speed at which the AUV must travel for stable depth control. Otherwise, the extra buoyancy will bring the A...
متن کاملPulsatile vortex generators for low-speed maneuvering of small underwater vehicles
Compact zero-mass pulsatile jet actuators are proposed for low-speed maneuvering and station keeping of small underwater vehicles. The flow field of such jets are initially dominated by vortex ring formation. Pinched-off vortices characterize the extremum impulse accumulated by the leading vortex ring in a vortex ring formation process. Relevant parameters in this process are identified in orde...
متن کاملPower Reduction by Controlling Joint Compliance for the Propulsion of a Biomimetic Underwater Vehicle
The work describes a compliance control scheme for the caudal joint motion of a biomimetic autonomous underwater vehicle (BAUV). The purpose of the control method is to use the motor power more effectively for propulsion. A symmetric foil executing large-amplitude sway and yaw motions in a flow imitates a flapping tail fin which is used as the propulsive device of BAUV. Motions of the oscillati...
متن کاملDesign of a Low Reynolds Number Propulsion System for an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle
A methodology for the design of small autonomous underwater vehicle propulsion systems has been developed and applied to the Virginia Tech 690 AUV. The methodology is novel in that it incorporates fast design level codes capable of predicting the viscous effects of low Reynolds number flow that is experienced by small, slow turning propellers. The methodology consists of determining the minimum...
